More than 13 months now, Tom weighs about 23 pounds, and is 79 cm tall/long. There have been a lot of changes since his website was updated last time. During the transition period after Jessie's parents left and before my parents came, we had some tough time with him. But like a typical baby, he was soon adapted to the new grandparents, and became happy again. Some new skills Tom picked up lately: 1) Tom can walk very smoothly now. It can be said that Tom is very courageous since he learned the walking skill all by himself without any assistance of a tool. Meanwhile, he learned very quickly to step down stairs. Well, to be accurate, he does not step or climb down stairs, he does not have such patience. The way he does it is to turn his back forward and slip all the way from the top to the bottom of the stairs, and then laugh hard for his achievements. 2) Tom has not shown much talent in language, and I certainly do not quite expect that. However, he is as good as normal babies in understanding words. He would go to the fridge when asked to get yogurt, and go to his high chair when told to eat. He is a funny lazy boy too. While he is energetic, say in the morning, he would wave to say bye to Jessie and me when we go to work. But right before going to bed, he would just move his fingers to sign a good night instead of raising his hand to do it. That move inevitably makes the last happy moment of the day.
