After a surprising warm start, we had a long and unpleasant winter in the beginning of 2007. Thomas has been wearing thick jacket or sweater since he was born, and we are so eager to see him playing in the spring's sunshine, or even half-naked crawling on the floor someday in the summer. Nevertheless, spring is finally around the corner. I remember those days in Wuda when the millions of cherry flowers prelude the spring. That was quite a scene. I never really liked cherry trees or cherry flowers themselves, partly because of their relationship to another culture, but I did enjoy the feeling that the curtain finally falls for the dark and cold when I watched those tiny little white or light pick pedals falling down the trees, making a cozy carpet down the trails.
So, we decided to take Thomas to Washington DC for a short tour. However, it turned out that we went a little too later. The snow storm over the last weekend basically swept away all the flowers and left us with only leaves. However, there was a parade sponsored by Southwest Airline and a special festival event featuring some good Japanese food and music. Thomas really had a good time when he saw so many people dancing and chatting around him. He was HAPPY! You can see that in the pictures. Check the gallery out here.
