Quick Updates - Trip to China
Written by Alex
2008/06/14, Saturday

I have to apologize to Tom and his fans (i.e. grandparents, aunts and uncles and loving ones) for not updating this website for so long. A lot of things have happened during the last four months.

First, we took Tom to China for the first time. It was a very good trip. First of all, Tom behaved very well on the flight both ways. Then he got along will all of our families and was very friendly to everyone he met. (Was it because they were all Chinese?)  Of course, needless to say, all of us ate a lot of good food, met family and old friends, and bought some nice stuff.

In Shantou, Thomas met Zike and his classmates. Zike was such a nice big brother to him. Unfortunately it was too short and Zike did not have much time to spend with Thomas because he had to go to classes everyday.

At Chengdu, Tom spent most of his time with his cousin Andy (Dou Dou) and even thought he fought with each other from time to time, the soon learned how to get along. And amazingly, Andy started to take care of Tom, what a wonderful kid.

Listening? Talking?
Written by Alex
2007/12/29, Saturday

As new parents, Jessie and I (and certainly all grandparents) keep checking Thomas against all important milestones for babies. Tom is pretty normal on basically every measurement, but there is one thing that we, or maybe just myself, knew from the beginning that Tom would not be quite "normal" - he would not start to talk as other kids typically do.  Why? It is because his dad did not.

What's new about Tom
Written by Alex
2007/11/11, Sunday

More than 13 months now,  Tom weighs about 23 pounds, and is 79 cm tall/long. There have been a lot of changes since his website was updated last time. During the transition period after Jessie's parents left and before my parents came, we had some tough time with him. But like a typical baby, he was soon adapted to the new grandparents, and became happy again.

Some new skills Tom picked up lately: 1) Tom can walk very smoothly now. It can be said that Tom is very courageous since he learned the walking skill all by himself without any assistance of a tool. Meanwhile, he learned very quickly to step down stairs. Well, to be accurate, he does not step or climb down stairs, he does not have such patience. The way he does it is to turn his back forward and slip all the way from the top to the bottom of the stairs, and then laugh hard for his achievements.

When Tom goes out or is on an important day, daddy or grandpa almost always carry their cameras. But there are occasions when the cameras are not available, cell phones serve as a wonderful backup. See the various great moments fixed by daddy's cell phone. (gallery)

Tom waves to his fans
Written by Alex
2007/08/20, Monday

Tom's new skill is to raise one of his arms high, kind of saluting people. We think he is waving to his fans when he does that. One day his grand parents took him to the backyard so as to take some pictures for him and his little buddy tree. He was seated on his high chair and suddenly raised his right arm. Grandpa captured the interesting moment, in which he was like Chairman Mao waving to the comrades - a true future leader!
