Last month, when we visited the pediatrician, we were confident that Tom had reached a new high. We believed that he would be in the 90th percentile range for both weight and height, because when we measured him at home, he was over 15 pounds. However, the moment I put Tom on the scale at the pediatrician's
office, both Jessie and I were totally shocked and saddened by the
number shown on the digital display. It was less than 13 pounds. Even
after we asked the nurse to weight Thomas again, he was only slightly
heavier than 13 pounds with clothes on. I later figured that either our
weighing Thomas at home was biased to the higher end, or the doctor's
scale was malfunctioning.
